Abstract

This article is a retrospective and prospective look at financial technology topics including high-speed markets and high-frequency trading; cyber-risk and TEOTWAWKI (“The End of the World As We Know It”); what happens when everything is indexed; impacts of artificial intelligence; and ageism in the investment industry. This piece is written by a long-time Journal of Investing fintech author, with contributions from others who have been active in financial technology over the journal’s 25-year history.
